Some reports estimate that as many as 1,200 Tibetan political prisoners are being held in Chinese prisons and jails. Arbitrary detention, sham trials, and brutal torture are parts of the 'judicial' process. Below are just a few of the Tibetan political prisoners being unlawfully detained as a result of their beliefs. You can help secure their releases!

  • Gedhun Choekyi Nyima: At 13 years old, the 11th Panchen Lama is one of the youngest political prisoners in the world. He is among the most sacred spiritual leaders in Tibetan religion and culture, and has been detained by the Chinese government since he was six years old.
  • The Drapchi Nuns: The remaining Drapchi 14, the "singing nuns", are singled out for particularly harsh abuse in Lhasa's notorious Drapchi Prison.
  • And others: Many other Tibetan political prisoners continue to languish in prisons and jails in China and Tibet.

Print out this petition form to help free Tibetan political prisoners, and write directly to top officials and demand the immediate release of all political prisoners. Join the U.S. Tibet Committee and start making a change today.
