September 13, 2001 Members of the Tibetan community of New York and the greater New York area will hold a candlelight prayer ceremony tonight Thursday, September 13th, at 6:00 pm in Union Square (14th and Broadway). The gathering is to show the Tibetan community's solidarity and support for the people of the United States and the victims, their families, and loved ones affected by the tragic events of this week. The Tibetan people, under the leadership of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, have both spiritually and culturally a strong belief in and commitment to the principle of non-violence. The
prayers tonight are for New Yorkers, and all Americans, that they may find strength
in their hearts to come through this difficult time with a deep spirit of compassion,
tolerance, love and patience. |
