**URGENT ACTION ALERT***

Free Tenzin Delek Rinpoche and the Lithang Detainees!

NEW RELEASES:

Three of the monks arrested during the raid on Jamyang Choekhorling Monastery have been released after serving one-year "reeducation through labor" terms (forced labor) for engaging in activities inciting "splittism."  The Ganzi Prefecture Reeducation Through Labor Committee administratively imposed the terms on May 10, 2002.  There was no judicial input.  The three are Tamdring Tsering, Ashar Dargye and Tsultrim Dargye.

Dhidhi, the businessman present at the time of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche's trial who was detained on suspicion of leaking information to the foreign press, was released as well.

Though these men were confined and probably subjected to ill-treatment by Chinese authorities, their releases give hope that we will make progress by securing the releases of all Lithang Detainees and ending the crackdown that has plagued the area!
